Privacy Policy

Starling International School (“we”, “us”, “our” or the “School”) operates the MyStarling parent, staff and student applications and the website my.starlinginternationalschool.edu.in (collectively, the “Application”). We are committed to respecting your privacy and protecting the personal information you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

“Personal Information” means any information that may be used to identify an individual, including (but not limited to) a name, home or physical address, mobile number, email address, photograph, and student or parent identification details.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information, provided by the School, the parent/guardian, or generated through use of the Application:

• Student information — name, class/section, roll number, student ID, photograph, blood group and emergency/medical notes (where provided by the parent/School).
• Parent/Guardian information — name, mobile number, relationship to the student, and login/verification details.
• Attendance & movement records — daily attendance, entry/exit (dispersal) times and gate information used for student safety.
• Communication data — WhatsApp and in-app notifications sent regarding attendance, dispersal, fees and school notices.
• Payment information — fee demand details, transaction/order identifiers, amount, and payment status. Card, UPI and net-banking credentials are processed directly by our payment gateway and are never stored on our servers.
• Technical data — device and browser type, IP address and usage logs, used to secure and improve the Application.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use Personal Information only to operate the School’s services, including to:

• Record and report student attendance and manage safe student dispersal;
• Send attendance, pickup/exit, fee and notice alerts to the registered parent(s);
• Enable secure online fee payment and generate payment receipts;
• Authenticate parent and staff logins and protect against unauthorised access;
• Maintain school records and respond to your requests and queries.

3. Payment Processing

Online fee payments made through the Application are processed by our third-party payment gateway, Razorpay (in association with HDFC Bank), which is a PCI-DSS compliant payment processor. When you make a payment, your card / UPI / net-banking details are entered on the gateway’s secure hosted page and are handled entirely by the gateway. The School only stores the transaction reference (order ID, payment ID and status), the amount, and the associated fee details — it does not receive or store your card number, CVV, UPI PIN or banking password. Use of the payment gateway is also subject to the gateway’s own privacy policy and terms.

4. Third-Party Services

Certain services within the Application are provided by trusted third parties acting on our behalf, including:

• Razorpay / HDFC Bank — for secure online fee collection;
• WhatsApp messaging provider — for delivering attendance, dispersal, fee and notice alerts to parents;
• Web push notification services — for in-app alerts.

We share Personal Information with these providers only to the extent necessary to deliver the requested service, and we take reasonable steps to ensure they are obligated to protect it. We do not sell, rent or trade your Personal Information, and we do not transfer it to any party that is not acting on our behalf, except where required by law.

5. Information Sharing & Disclosure

We do not share Personal Information about you with third parties except in the following circumstances:

• To provide a product or service you have requested (for example, processing a fee payment);
• With your consent;
• With trusted partners working on our behalf under confidentiality obligations;
• Where we believe it necessary to investigate, prevent or take action regarding illegal activity, suspected fraud, or threats to the safety of any person, or where otherwise required by law or a competent authority.

6. Information Security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of data, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, restricted access, secure sessions and login protection. Access to Personal Information is limited to authorised School staff who need it to operate or improve our services. However, no method of transmission over the internet is fully secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Data Retention

We retain student, attendance and fee records for as long as the student is enrolled and thereafter as required for the School’s legitimate administrative, legal and audit purposes. Transaction records are retained in accordance with applicable financial and regulatory requirements.

8. Updating Your Information

You may review or update the information associated with your account by signing in to the Application, or by contacting the School office. To request a correction, please clearly state the change required and we will make reasonable efforts to update it.

9. Sensitive Information

Please do not send us or disclose any sensitive personal information (for example, information relating to racial or ethnic origin, political opinions or religious beliefs) through the Application, except medical/emergency information that you choose to provide for your child’s safety.

10. Children’s Privacy

The Application handles student information on behalf of the School and the student’s parent/guardian. Student accounts and data are managed by the School and accessed by the authorised parent/guardian; students do not independently register or provide information through the Application.

11. Your Consent

By using the Application, you consent to the terms of this Privacy Policy and to our collection, use and disclosure of Personal Information as described here.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to update, change or modify this Privacy Policy at any time. Any changes take effect from the date of such update, and the revised “Last updated” date will be shown at the top of this page.
